THE BOOK DOCTOR

about The Book Doctor

Book Doctor logo

We are writers and educators interested in the arts of writing. Having gone through the process of producing published work ourselves, we have personal experience of the problems and joys associated with becoming published authors. And, as people who have worked in the publishing industry, we know ways to get things done.

We are happy to be able to use our knowledge to help others.

Our principal is Margaret Johnson. Educated in New Zealand, the United States, and Australia, she holds degrees from each country, including a PhD with distinction from the University of Western Australia, where she was also awarded a post-doctoral research fellowship. Her writing credits include articles in Australian and international journals, a set of readers used in teaching English as a second language and adult literacy courses, and academic works. She has published in Australia, New Zealand, England, and the United States. Her editing experience ranges from small-readership magazines, through anthologies and journals, to book-length publications.

Margaret is a full member of the Australian Society of Authors, the Institute of Professional Editors, the Queensland Writers Centre, ther Tasmanian Writers' Centre, Writing WA, and the Society of Editors (WA). She has been involved in secondary, tertiary, and adult education for over forty years.
