Freo Fred and other awesome tales is an anthology of children’s stories, based on the theme of Fremantle and Western Australia. The contents are a quirky mix of stories and poems for primary school children. They range from educational stories of dugongs and hopping mice to the ghostly comedy of the flagship story, Freo Fred. Other tales include an unusual journey around Australia, two stories of children’s discovery of their grandparents’ lives, plus stories of sport, stories of aliens and more. It holds interest for both girls and boys.

Kids’ Stuff Writing Group is a community writing group whose members focus on writing stories and poems for children. Meetings are held once a month in the Children’s Literature Centre in the Old Fremantle Jail hospital.
